So, there's this thing. It's called life. It's gotten between me and my art a lot.
That's not to say I haven't loved what I've been doing. I have. I work at a great company, write for a gaming blog called www.rogueprincesssquadron.com , and work on various writing or gaming projects in my spare time.
The past two years have been rough for a variety of reason I won't detail here. I've gotten through them with great friends and family by my side. Lately I've been feeling like it's time for another shift, another change.
And that change is leading me back to my art.
And I totally, totally blame Disney's FROZEN.
Also, Clio Chang, whose name I saw in the credits for FROZEN (the second time I saw it), after I had watched her art for YEARS and YEARS.
Yesterday I filled up FIFTEEN pages of a sketchbook. It was GLORIOUS.
So, while I can't promise that there'll be anything actually interesting popping up here, there might be. Because a couple of ice-bound princesses lit a fire in my heart.
Yes, I know that's a cheesy line to end a journal entry on, so here's another.
OH GOD, THE DUST
Wow. Just wow.
I have no idea how long it's been since I've really posted, well, ANYTHING here. Years.
Every now and again I pop in and realize: "Crap. People still like my art."
"Crap" is uttered because I then feel guilty about not drawing more or posting more.
So, anyway, I might blow the dust off this account and post some things. Probably mostly fanart. I'll have to spruce things up; maybe I'll try out these new organizing functions. We'll see what happens.
And if things do start moving around and popping up, well, that's 'cuz of you guys.
Rock on.
Projects. . .
So, here I am, as usual, in the middle of fifteen projects of my own. . . and barely any of them art related. I did some photo restoration for my mother, but that's been bout it. I am doodling some stuff that I want to color, we'll see how that goes. I've also been on a massive Firefly kick for about two months now. I'm hoping it'll go away when I've finished this fan fiction I've been working on.
Lately I've been playing around with the idea for a screenplay or something akin to that. It has led me back to the inevitable "I want to do a webcomic but I don't think I can draw it myself" argument I have with myself. So I might be hittin
Wow. How long has it been?
Good god. I didn't realize webpages could get cobwebs.
Life, however, has been busy and I'm not entirely sure when the last time I complete a full piece of art was. However, I've got some new projects and inspiration and will be putting up some more stuff in the coming weeks. . . mostly shading experiments and characters no one will recognize (for a couple of years, ideally then people will).
Yes, my tablet and I had a tearful (and somewhat puzzling) reunion, and it expects to get much more use very soon. Though I plan on NOT drawing my original sketches into the computer from now on-- trying that with Maggie and Spot was enough torture for
WOO HOO!!! (Print of Wicked Lyrics, anyone?)
So, yeah, I feel I've neglected this very badly. First it was because I was working to much retail. Now, however, I am happy to announce that I have a job at Randomhouse Publishing as an assistant editor for a novelty book (pop-ups, board books, etc.) imprint! WHEEE!!! However, I have to commute into the city, which means I'm up at 5:45am and don't get home until 6:05pm. The I sleep on the train a lot.
However, the commute is the only thing I have to complain about. My boss is awesome, the job is awesome, the perks are off the wall- all in all I'm ecstatic. I'm trying to do a little more art lately. . . Let's say that 20% of all the art I do
